Speaking to the media, he expressed his sympathy for those affected and pledged uninterrupted support to ensure their safety and well-being.
"It has been a troubling experience to listen to the shocking ordeals of the young and old who have been left helpless by this natural calamity," said President Chakwera.
"I have assured them of our uninterrupted support to see them out of danger and back to their respective communities in good health."
The president also commended the medical staff for their exceptional work in providing hospital care to the injured and traumatized, as well as in assisting with mortuary services for the deceased.
Later in the day, President Chakwera is set to visit other flood-affected districts in the Southern Region to assess the situation and offer further assistance.
