"Poverty Reduction Certain" Says DAPP Official

NSANJE, Malawi- Development Aid from People to People (DAPP) says it is certain that the Financial Access to Rural Market Smallholder Enterprise (FARMSE) program will achieve its aim of poverty reduction among the targeted families, writes Cornelius Lupenga.
Project Coordinator for DAPP, Gift Vasco disclosed on Wednesday in an interview with this publication.
He said his organization is working with Mizimu Savings Loan group in the area of Senior Chief Tengani in Nsanje.
Vasco said the Community Based Financial Organization Village Savings Loan component of the program have begun producing the desirable outcomes of poverty reduction, improved livelihoods of enhancement of resilience amongst rural households sustainable basis.
"We are reaching out to 370 Community Based Financial Organization translating to 7,400 individuals benefiting from the initiative in Nsanje," said Vasco.
Tengani Area Disability Forum Chair, Misheck Martin hailed the organization for coming to the rescue.
He bemoaned knowledge gap on financial literacy and business management which the members of Mizimu Village Savings Loan group calling on the organization to build their capacity.
"We had a successful meeting with DAPP officer who oriented us on basic financial knowledge," said the chairperson.
