Poetry Stars Gather for Inspiring Feast
The Poetry Feast will also feature musical performances from Nzeka's youth music groups.
BLANTYRE, Malawi- The up-and-coming youth arts organization Nzeka Arts is hosting a major poetry event titled "The Poetry Feast" on March 3 at the Jacaranda Cultural Center in the Mandala area of Blantyre, writes Happy Valirani.
The event will feature performances by over a dozen renowned poets from across Malawi, including literary stars like Refilwe, Beatrice Ligomeka, Amfumu Kenneth Khondiwa, Jane Senenje and Mlakatuli Nabanda.
"Our goal with this event is to bring together the country's most talented established poets along with the next generation of up-and-coming poetic voices, so they can share their experiences and help mentor younger artists to further develop their skills," said Nzeka Arts Director Harris Kamwendo in an exclusive interview on Tuesday.
Kamwendo explained that the venue was selected based on its central location in Blantyre and its affordability, in order to maximize attendance.
Tickets are available for purchase online via mobile banking platforms like Airtel Money and Mpamba.
"We want to make this inspiring event accessible to poetry enthusiasts from all walks of life," he emphasized.
The Poetry Feast will also feature musical performances from Nzeka's youth music groups.
Special guest Poetry Association of Malawi President Robert Chiwamba is scheduled to attend and address the crowd.
Nzeka Arts aims to nurture talented Malawian youth in various artistic disciplines including poetry, music, dance, painting and more.
