Piped Water Project Brings Relief to Residents in Nsanje
Piped water project in Malawi's Nsanje area ensures safety from aquatic attacks and salty water, writes Cornelius Lupenga.
Malawi-Residents in the area of Senior Chief Mbenje in Nsanje, Malawi, are now safe from aquatic animal attacks and the use of salty water following the commissioning of a piped water project, writes Cornelius Lupenga.
Senior Group Village Headman Kalupsya said water was a major challenge for his subjects throughout the year for a long time, with only a few boreholes supplying fresh water.
This prompted women and girls to walk long distances to fetch non-salty water.
The new piped water project has been hailed by the senior traditional leader, who thanked the Member of Parliament for Nsanje Lalanje Gladys Ganda for her efforts to prioritize water in the constituency.
The parliamentarian has already sunk piped water projects in the areas of Senior Group Village Headman Nyang'a, Mnembe, and is now focusing on Sorgin and Mbenje.
The Deputy Chairperson for Nsanje District Council, Councillor Honest Sande, praised the efforts of the local legislature and urged residents to take care of the equipment supplying them with clean water.
"Do not vandalize the materials that are providing water to yourselves in the area," he appealed.
