PIH Unveils Advanced ICU and Dialysis Units, Boosts Malawi's Healthcare

LILONGWE, Malawi-- Partners in Hope (PIH) unveiled new Dialysis and Intensive Care Units recently, marking a significant advancement in Malawi's healthcare services, writes Abraham Bisayi.
Deputy Minister of Health Halima Daud presided over the ceremony in Lilongwe.
Daud praised PIH's initiative, stating, "These new units represent a major step forward in our ability to provide citizens with the care they deserve."
She emphasized the alignment with the Health Sector Strategic Plan, which aims to "improve the availability, accessibility, and quality of health infrastructure and medical equipment at all levels of healthcare."
The deputy minister reaffirmed the government's commitment to public-private partnerships.
"The Malawi government remains fully committed to fostering such collaborations to expand access to critical health services, enhance service delivery, and ultimately improve the health outcomes of our people," Daud said.
She urged healthcare providers to promote collaboration and innovation, adding, "While the challenges we face are significant, by working together we can create solutions that strengthen our healthcare system and improve the lives of Malawian citizens."
Dr. Agnes Moses, Executive Director of PIH, highlighted the units' importance.
"The opening of these units marks a crucial step in improving access to critical care services for patients with life-threatening conditions such as kidney disease and hypertension," she said.
