Pashello Vows to Continue Programs Despite Founder's Death
Since 2011, the NGO has aided thousands across Chikwawa and Nsanje Districts.
CHIKWAWA, Malawi- Pashello Charitable Trust, a local NGO based in Chikwawa District, has announced it will continue all established programs following the recent death of founder and Executive Director Felia Malola, writes Moses Thole.
Malola passed away on November 11 after a brief illness and was buried on November 13 in Ngabu.
In a statement, Pashello's Board Director, Lloyd Malola, affirmed the commitment to uphold Felia's legacy and mission.
This includes orphan care, early childhood centres, youth and women’s empowerment, healthcare, feeding the elderly, school fees, housing, and special needs programmes.
Melanie Anne Miller, a Pashello supporter in the U.S., expressed shock at Malola's untimely death, with many projects unfinished, like the Felia Malola House of Grace for the disabled and elderly, still under construction.
However, Miller revealed plans to complete the facility by selling handmade hats in America, with all proceeds going to the project.
"We have so many connections here in America, we will deliver,” Miller said.
The charity also plans to open a hospital in the coming months.
Beneficiary Righteous Chilenje said he was delighted Malola's husband Lloyd would continue Pashello's work.
"We thought all was lost. Now we have total hope," he remarked.
