Chikwawa, Malawi - Melanie Anne Miller, a supporter of the Pashello Charitable Trust based in the United States of America, has secured a significant business deal with Purdue University's football team for the purchase of her handmade hats, writes Moses Thole.
The university team has expressed admiration for the attractive handmade hats and has placed an order for a substantial quantity.
Miller expressed her delight with this development, stating, "This is fantastic news! This business deal will go a long way in supporting our plans to construct an elderly home at the Pashello Charitable Trust in Chikwawa District."
The proposed elderly home will be self-contained, equipped with electricity and water, providing much-needed support and care for the elderly in the community.
Each handmade hat is being sold for US$30 as part of a fundraising effort in the United States.
Miller emphasized the need to increase hat production to meet the anticipated demand during the upcoming festive season.
The project to construct the elderly home, which commenced a week ago, had been temporarily halted following the passing of Felia Malola, the organization's Executive Director.
Lloyd Malola, the Board Director for Pashello Charitable Trust and husband of the late Felia, announced that the construction of the elderly home will resume tomorrow in Ngabu.
Elderly individuals from the surrounding villages of Misongwe, Faiti, Thonje, Chimpambana, and Saopa, among others, will benefit from the completed elderly home.
This business deal with Purdue University's football team represents a significant stride forward for the Pashello Charitable Trust in its mission to provide support and care for the elderly in Chikwawa District.
The sale of handmade hats, coupled with the ongoing construction of the elderly home, demonstrates the organization's commitment to improving the lives of those in need.
