Open City, Youth Pulse: Second Tsinghua Global Youth Dialogue Kicks Off in Shanghai
Following the Shanghai event, participants will visit other regions in China to explore development opportunities and foster global youth collaboration.
SHANGHAI, China— The Second Tsinghua Global Youth Dialogue kicked off in Shanghai, bringing together 100 young representatives from 35 countries for a four-day exploration of the city's innovation and vitality, writes AfricaBrief Reporter.
Wu Bin, Chairman of the Shanghai Youth Federation, emphasized the city's role in China's development at the welcome reception.
"As a forefront of China's reform and opening-up and a deeply connected global metropolis, Shanghai serves as a vital window for the world to observe China," Wu said.
"It plays a leading role in deepening comprehensive reforms and expanding high-level openness."
Participants visited tech companies, automotive firms, and educational institutions, gaining firsthand experience of China's advancements in robotics, cultural industries, and smart manufacturing.
Martin Jesse Theodore, an Australian indigenous community development pioneer, saw opportunities for strengthening international connections and learning from China's experiences.
"I felt a strong resonance between Australian Indigenous communities and China in terms of culture, heritage preservation, and community building," Theodore said.
Faezeh Mirzabeh, a member of the Iran-China Youth Trade Association, expressed admiration for Shanghai's cultural diversity and multilingual residents.
The dialogue, established by Tsinghua University in 2023, aims to empower youth and shape the future under the theme "Harmony and Unity for the Greater Common Good."
Following the Shanghai event from August 19t to 22, participants will visit other regions in China to explore development opportunities and foster global youth collaboration.
