BLANTYRE, Malawi — In a bid to promote financial responsibility among Malawians, Old Mutual Malawi has unveiled its 2023 Bridal Shower Financial Campaign, aiming to empower newlywed couples and their audiences with essential financial management skills, writes Mayamiko Phiri.
During an interview on Monday, September 11th, Benard Chiludzi, Old Mutual Malawi's Financial Education Manager, shared insights into this initiative, highlighting its commitment to offering free financial guidance at bridal showers.
Chiludzi emphasised the campaign's accessibility, stating, "This service is free of charge. Interested individuals can book in advance, allowing Old Mutual Malawi officials to provide valuable insights into financial matters during their bridal shower events."
Through this initiative, the newlyweds and their guests will have the opportunity to delve into crucial financial principles, including open communication about money matters, establishing emergency funds, setting financial goals, prioritising debt management, saving for retirement, understanding insurance, automating savings, living within one's means, and diversifying investments.
Old Mutual Malawi hopes that by imparting these financial wisdom nuggets at bridal showers, newlyweds and their families will be better equipped to navigate the often complex world of personal finance, ultimately fostering a more financially prudent society in Malawi.
