NRWB announces plans to extend water supply in Rumphi, Mzimba North
The Northern Region Water Board has announced plans to begin extending the water supply in Rumphi District and parts of Mzimba North early next year.
Malawi: The Northern Region Water Board has announced plans to begin extending the water supply in Rumphi District and parts of Mzimba North early next year.
During a briefing meeting in Rumphi today, Gerald Nguluwe, who is responsible for community and stakeholder engagement at the board, stated that Enukweni, Vongo, Bwengu, Bolero, Mwazisi, Mzokoto, and other areas in the two districts are expected to receive water.
Rumphi District Council's Director of Planning and Development, Frank Mkandawire, stated that the project is timely, given that access to safe water remains a challenge in the district.
According to Rumphi District Water Office data, 30% of the population lacks access to safe and clean portable water.
