Northern Region Police Commissioner Urges Journalists to Safeguard Against Social Media
Police Commissioner Kayira urges Mzuzu-based journalists to be vigilant against social media's influence, reports Tionge Hara.
Mzuzu, Malawi - Northern Region Police Commissioner Mlowoka Noel Kayira issued a call to journalists from the Nyika media club, particularly those based in Mzuzu, to be vigilant against the growing influence of social media, writes Tionge Hara.
During an interface meeting held on March 25, 2023, Kayira emphasised the crucial role journalists play in disseminating information and stressed the need for regular interaction and discussion on relevant issues.
Kayira urged journalists to produce content that fosters unity and development rather than division or harm.
He also extended an open invitation for journalists to visit his office and access accurate information.
On his part, Joseph Mwale, Chairperson of the Nyika Media Club, applauded the police for organising the meeting and highlighted the importance of collaboration between the police and the media, especially with upcoming elections on the horizon.
The interface meeting brought together 30 media members from selected Mzuzu City media houses, providing an opportunity for constructive dialogue and engagement.
