Northern Malawi Football League Secures K20 Million Multi-Sponsor Deal
This new sponsorship deal marks a significant boost for Northern Malawi football, potentially enhancing competition and talent development in the region.
MZUZU, Malawi— The Northern Region Football Association (NRFA) has secured a K20 million sponsorship boost from 12 Mzuzu-based business entities, collectively known as Mzuzu 12 sponsors, writes Victor Musongole.
The announcement was made Tuesday at Mzuzu Golf Club hall. The new sponsorship, combined with the existing K5 million package from Simama and Sons, brings the total to K25 million for the 2024 season.
The league will be rebranded as the NRFA Simso Mzuzu 12 Premier League.
Participating sponsors include The Bath and Tile Masters, Uncle Jose, Hope A&I Investment, Ilala Crest, Gabriel Trading, Nyika Property Consultants, Kwithu Kitchen, Double M Motors, and Mzuzu Panel Beaters.
Counsel Victor Gondwe of Nyika Property Consultants, speaking on behalf of the sponsors, emphasized the sustainability of the multi-sponsor approach and its potential to promote unity.
"We want to see more people, especially the youth, get involved in sports while staying away from wayward behavior," Gondwe said.
Football Association of Malawi second vice president Lameck Zetu Khonje called for transparency in resource management and predicted increased competitiveness in the league.
The Mzuzu 12 sponsors replace Innobuild Limited, which withdrew its K10 million sponsorship due to financial challenges.
