Non-Profit Organization Top Tier Promotes Access to Quality Education
Top Tier provides school necessities to less privileged learners, aiming to benefit over 10,000 students in the next academic year.
Blantyre, Malawi: Top Tier, a newly-established non-profit organisation, is working towards addressing the challenges faced by children from less privileged families in accessing quality education, writes Moses Sakala.
The organisation is focusing on primary school learners and secondary school students in rural areas of the country, with plans to expand its reach to other African countries.
During a donation event at Living Word of God Faith-Based Organisation in Ndirande on July 5, 2023, Top Tier's Executive Director, Francis Takondwa Samuel, shared the organization's plans and aspirations.
He highlighted the lack of equal opportunities for children from different financial backgrounds, emphasising the importance of providing basic resources to unleash the potential of less privileged children.
"As Top Tier, we are coming in to help the less privileged children with the resources they lack in order for them to equally compete with others," said Samuel.
The organisation aims to benefit over 10,000 students in the next academic year, starting in September 2023.
Samuel also revealed Top Tier's plan to adopt schools in rural areas, providing necessities to learners throughout the academic year.
This long-term support aims to address the various challenges faced by the beneficiaries.
James Genesis, the Executive Director of the Living Word of God Faith-Based Organisation, expressed gratitude for the timely donation, which comes at a time when they are facing multiple challenges.
He mentioned the lack of materials such as school uniforms, fees, and learning resources among their beneficiaries.
Faith Muliwa, one of the beneficiaries, expressed her delight and gratitude, stating that the writing materials she received would help her achieve her dream of becoming a journalist.
Top Tier has already reached 1,300 children, providing them with assorted school supplies in Phalombe.
Through their initiatives, the organisation aims to bridge the educational gap and empower less privileged children to fulfil their potential.
