LILONGWE, Malawi- Nigerian musician Ojonimi Abraham Ejigbo, popularly known as Nimix, expressed his readiness to collaborate with more musicians in Malawi, aiming to expand his fan base and promote local artists abroad, writes Moses Nyirenda.
Nimix, who visited the country last year and recently released a hit song titled 'Chiwaya' with Chichewa and English lyrics, spoke about his mission during a press conference.
"I believe in Malawian artists, I believe in their industry, there are so many talented people over there," Nimix stated.
"By working with Malawian artists, I want to expand my coverage and introduce them to my own fan base outside Malawi."
The Nigerian artist, hailing from Kogi State, revealed his plans to collaborate with local musicians such as Kell Kay, Fredo Kiss, and upcoming talents.
With a career in music since 2013, Nimix has gained popularity through songs like 'Hasinibu', 'Sapa no fit catch me', and 'Chiwaya', among others.
Aside from his latest release, Nimix has also produced a track titled 'Mulungu', with the video set to be released in December this year.
Additionally, he was featured in a song called 'My daily worship' by renowned Malawian hip-hop gospel artist Gwamba, part of Gwamba's album 'True Independence' released in 2022.
Gireh, a prominent songbird based in Lilongwe, praised Nimix's initiative to collaborate with local artists, emphasising the positive impact it will have on the Malawian music scene.
"This move will introduce us abroad and help create our fan base there. It will also strengthen the relationship between Nimix and local artists," Gireh expressed.
Nimix's determination to work with Malawian artists reflects his commitment to promoting music collaborations and fostering artistic connections beyond borders.
