Ntcheu, Malawi — The National Initiative for Civic Education (NICE) has expressed satisfaction with the way communities in Ntcheu district are grasping the Malawi 2063 vision mindset message, writes Ousman Kaliati.
Speaking during a training for different stakeholders in the area of Sub Traditional Authority Tsikulamowa, NICE Civic Education Officer for Ntcheu district Henry Zekeria said leaders have received the message with passion and have promised to spread it to their followers.
He believes that the positive response is a good sign for the success of the Malawi 2063 vision.
"Our aim is to reach out to all people with the mindset change message so that they can understand the Malawi 2063 vision better," said Zekeria.
"They are part of it, and they need to be aware of what it is and how they can contribute to its success."
Group village headman Matcheleza commended NICE for the training, saying he has been imparted with knowledge about the mindset change message that he will share with his people.
A representative for faith leaders, pastor Lamson of Wings Pentecost Church, concurred with group village headman Matcheleza, saying that as faith leaders, they will do their part to spread the message to their church members.
The Malawi2063 is a long-term development plan that aims to transform Malawi into a wealthy and self-reliant industrialised upper-middle-income country by the year 2063.
The vision falls under three pillars: agricultural productivity and commercialization, industrialization, and good governance.
NICE is a non-governmental organisation that is committed to promoting civic education and good governance in Malawi.
The organisation has been working in Ntcheu district for over 10 years, and it has played a key role in raising awareness of the Malawi 2063 vision.
The training that NICE conducted in Ntcheu district was part of a wider effort to promote the Malawi 2063 vision across the country.
NICE plans to continue its work in this area and it is confident that with the support of communities and leaders, the Malawi2063 can become a reality.
