Newly-Constructed Market at Dyeratu Trading Centre in Chikwawa Expects to Address Congestion and Accident Risks
The new market is well-fenced, unlike the old market, which is located along a busy road.
Malawi: Business owners and operators at Dyeratu Trading Center in Chikwawa district are looking forward to using the newly constructed market, which will reduce congestion and overpopulation that were causing road accidents at the old market, writes Comfort Bulangete.
Yamikani Brahim, the chairperson for Dyeratu Trading Center Market, said in an interview that he is excited about the development, noting that the new market will address the long-standing issues of congestion and accidents.
"The market will be more productive as it is a modern one with the greatest impact on users and has all the necessary equipment for both buyers and sellers," according to Yamikani Brahim.
Councillor Khofati Malunga, the Chairperson for the Chikwawa District Council, also said the development will improve the welfare of purchasers and sellers, as they will be protected from accidents.
The new market is well-fenced, unlike the old market, which is located along a busy road.
He urged community members and market users to take care of the market environment by keeping it clean, especially in the midst of the current cholera outbreak.
The new market was built after complaints from business operators that the location of the old market along the M1 road was risking accidents.
