Tinashe Manzungu, a prominent figure in Southern African infrastructure development, emphasized the need for policy review to keep pace with the rapidly evolving construction sector.
"The construction industry is evolving rapidly, and we are committed to adopting modern technologies and sustainable practices to enhance Zimbabwe's development," he said.
The new ZBCA president, who is also CEO and co-founder of ZimBuild, aims to leverage Zimbabwe's upcoming hosting of the SADC industrialization week to drive improvements in the region's construction services.
"My main objective is to advocate for policies and regulations that create a conducive environment for the growth of the construction industry in Zimbabwe and across the region through strategic partnerships," Manzungu stated.
He plans to promote new building standards, fair tender processes, streamlined workflows, and accessible financing options.
Manzungu highlighted the growing urbanization trend within SADC as a significant demand driver for construction expertise.
He expressed commitment to partnering with government and other stakeholders to develop infrastructure projects that empower local contractors.
The ZBCA, established in 1985, represents over 400 members across Zimbabwe and promotes equity, high standards of workmanship, and a better future for the country's construction industry.

He will be working alongside newly appointed senior vice president Gerald Chipumha and junior vice president Gaudencia Sigauke.
