New Name, New Bus for Kawinga FC
Kawinga unveiled the club's new name and team bus during a dinner organized to award outstanding players from the 2023 season.
LILONGWE, Malawi - Ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, newly promoted TNM Super League side Kawinga FC, Chipiku Stores Central Region Football Association (CRAF) Premier League champions, has been renamed Creck Sporting Club, writes Alinafe Nyanda.
"Each step of life has changes, one to another," said club patron Apostle Clifford Kawinga while confirming the development Sunday in Lilongwe.
Kawinga unveiled the club's new name and team bus during a dinner organized to award outstanding players from the 2023 season.
According to Kawinga, the change to Creck Sporting Club is an appreciation to their sponsors and a token for the players, supporters and staff who helped the team reach the elite TNM Super League.
"We have a very clear vision to develop a cream of players, but this requires interventions, advice, counseling, guidance and adjustments," said Kawinga.
"We know we'll compete with big teams and will plan accordingly. Malawi has potential - we've been underestimated but it's a collective responsibility to achieve our goals."
Kawinga emphasized discipline for success when the season kicks off April 6.
Consultant Joe Mwase got K1 million for aiding promotion. Each player received K250,000, officials K100,000.
Top scorer Rahim Mtondera won 10 goals.
Arnold Sun Kiyama was named most disciplined. Andrew Bisika won best goalkeeper. Chisomo Hiwa took best midfielder.
