NEW GLOBAL CAMPAIGN AIMS TO END CHILD HUNGER
The campaign, called ENOUGH, aims to end child hunger and malnutrition worldwide.
New York, US - Malawi President Lazarus Chakwera said a new $3.5 billion global campaign launched by World Vision International "augurs perfectly" with Malawi's goal of improving nutrition, writes Winston Mwale.
"Malawi has for decades been among the countries facing serious challenges in the provision of nutritious food to the child population," Chakwera said in his keynote address at the campaign launch event on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The campaign, called ENOUGH, aims to end child hunger and malnutrition worldwide.
World Vision International President Andrew Morley and World Food Programme Executive Director Cindy McCain emphasised "the need for collective global action to achieve the desired outcome."
Both Morley and McCain "gave assurances to support countries of Malawi’s category in eliminating child hunger," according to Chakwera.
Chakwera said he attended the event "to tell the Malawi story and seek support for our cause."
“Malawi will continue efforts to "transform food systems through programmes aimed at changing food supplies and providing community empowerment," he added.
