NCST, AUDA-NEPAD, and SFA Foundation Collaborate to Launch Grant Challenge Malawi Initiative
To ensure the quality of innovation and research, the grant reviewing processes will be conducted by internationally renowned researchers.
LILONGWE, Malawi - The National Commission for Science and Technology (NCST) in partnership with the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) and Science for Africa Foundation (SFA Foundation) is set to launch the Grant Challenge Malawi initiative, writes Judgement Katika.
This collaborative effort aims to promote, support, coordinate, and regulate the development and application of science, technology, and innovation in order to create wealth and improve the quality of life in Malawi.
Gift Kadzamira, Acting Director General for NCST, revealed that the initiative will provide researchers and innovators in the country with access to financial resources through a grant application process.
"We aim to narrow the gaps that exist in terms of finances and this will also help in addressing the challenges encountered," Kadzamira said.
To ensure the quality of innovation and research, the grant reviewing processes will be conducted by internationally renowned researchers.
This step will guarantee that only the most promising and impactful projects receive funding.
Despite the challenges faced by local innovators and researchers, NCST is urging the youth to enhance their skills and find innovative ways to overcome the limited resources available in the country.
By encouraging improvisation and resourcefulness, the initiative aims to empower the younger generation to contribute to the advancement of science and technology in Malawi.
The launch of the Grant Challenge Malawi initiative is scheduled to take place on August 30, 2023.
