The event was held to raise money for a new vehicle, musical instruments, and public address equipment.
Malawi: Kondwani Nankhumwa, Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, on Monday, January 2, 2023, attended a fundraising music show for the Namasalima Singers at Robins Park in Blantyre, writes Judgment Katika.
The Namasalima Singers, a Seventh-Day Adventist Church music group based in Muloza, were founded in 1980 and are known for spreading the word of God and converting many people to Christianity.
However, the group faces challenges, including a lack of reliable transportation to perform in various parts of the country.
The event was held to raise money for a new vehicle, musical instruments, and public address equipment.
Nankhumwa, an Adventist and former member of the Namasalima Singers, donated K1.5 million to the group, and SDA evangelist Dr. Ernest Kaonga, who is also Director of Maranatha Private Schools, donated an additional K1.5 million. Many other Adventists and other attendees also made cash donations.
Nankhumwa said that in these difficult economic times, it is important to turn to God for redemption and praised the Namasalima Singers for their contribution to spreading the word of God.
The group expressed their gratitude to Nankhumwa for his generous donation and personal attendance at the event.
