Mzuzu Youth Call for End to Political Abuse
"Do not use young people as tools of violence, instead use them in decision-making that will bring positive change to society."
MZUZU, Malawi- Youths in Mzuzu are urging politicians to stop using them for violence in the lead-up to the 2025 tripartite elections, writes Blessings Kaunda.
Mathews Botha, founder of the Do Your Part Youth Organization, made the call on Saturday during a charity event in Katoto Ground.
Botha emphasized the need for politicians to support and empower youths, not exploit them.
"It is time for politicians to appreciate and support the youth, not use them for political gains," Botha said.
"Do not use young people as tools of violence, instead use them in decision-making that will bring positive change to society."
He encouraged youths to reject any attempts by politicians to use them for violence and instead advocate for their involvement in meaningful activities.
The Do Your Part organization distributed essential items, including clothes, building materials, and Bibles, to 40 elderly people during the event.
The organization's work was praised by beneficiaries like 70-year-old Chikondi Banda.
"I am thankful for what these young men have done today," Banda said.
"They should also do this to others."
Other organizations, such as Mzuzu Mafia, Look Forward Foundation, and Do Your Part, collaborated on the initiative.
