Mzuzu Hosts Dueling 'Shutdown' Music Events This Weekend
The two events will allow Mzuzu residents to sample from the diversity of the dishes served.
MZUZU, Malawi-- Mzuzu will be dominated by two major music "shutdown" events this weekend, giving residents an opportunity to sample a diverse range of artists, writes Ziliro Mchulu.
On Friday, Queens Club will host Kelly Kay, Charisma, Teddy Makadi and Praise Umali at the "Queens Club Shut Down."
Patrons must pay K6,000 "to enjoy the vibes of charismatic stage tags that will be voiced by praises," said organizers.
The urban artist lineup is expected to "attract the youthful night ramblers who will tussle with the cold weather that is engulfing Mzuzu night."
Then on Saturday, Luwinga will host the "Mzuzu Shut Down" at the new Chisanga Complex Centre, headlined by The Black Missionaries Band.
The show features both local and urban artists like Merchah with "Vyapachalo," Pop Young looking to "make it sweater without 'Akometsi,'" and Anthony Makondetsa carrying "the flag for the older generation" with hit songs like "Muyuda" and "Faka faka, iwe."
Moda Fumulani, Yanjanani Chumbu and Black Missionaries also will perform.
The two events will allow Mzuzu residents to sample from the diversity of the dishes served.
One Luwinga resident, Oscar Kameta, said, "The events are timely as they are coming at month's end while many have money and this will probably make both events filled with fun speakers."
The Chisanga Complex Centre, described as a "new entertainment hub" with amenities like a conference room, bar and multipurpose hall, is located in Luwinga opposite a gas station.
The Black Missionaries performance comes three weeks after headlining a Mzuzu University event nearby.
