Mwanza Transformation Tops Chakwera Agenda
Chakwera's inspection of new staff houses at Mwanza Police and the start of construction on Mwanza Stadium are part of ongoing projects like the One-Stop Border Post.
MWANZA, Malawi- Malawi President Lazarus Chakwera said his tour of Mwanza on Friday highlighted development opportunities for the border district, writes Winston Mwale.
"Mwanza is a border district that forms the first impression of Malawi to those arriving through the entry points. It is, therefore, cardinal for my administration to expedite the process of modernizing the district by developing suitable infrastructure and programs in all sectors," Chakwera said.
Chakwera's inspection of new staff houses at Mwanza Police and the start of construction on Mwanza Stadium are part of ongoing projects like the One-Stop Border Post.
"Also on the cards, and very soon, are several projects including a grand business park, district council office complex, modern bus depot, mega market and a truck parking yard," Chakwera said.
He said these critical infrastructure projects will transform the district for the socioeconomic benefit of residents.
"We must rapidly develop Mwanza into a modern, vibrant district that welcomes visitors and provides opportunities for residents," Chakwera said.
