Mwanza moves to promote Malawi2063 through poetry
According to Mwanza, a Luntha TV presenter and producer, most Malawians follow messages through art such as music and poetry, which is why he intends to write some poems.
Malawi: A Lilongwe-based journalist, Brenard Mwanza, has stepped up to promote the Malawi2063 through his poems, which are lobbying for mindset change, one of the pillars in the realisation of Malawi 2063, which the Malawi Planning Commission (NPC) is championing.
Mwanza stated that the poems aimed at promoting the Malawi 2063 agenda are part of his upcoming album titled 'Malawi Watsopano' (New Malawi), which will include twenty poems all centred on the message of mindset change.
"My main message is about changing your mindset." "I'm trying to raise awareness about gender-based violence, child marriages, climate change, and other issues that are violating society," Mwanza said.
According to Mwanza, a Luntha TV presenter and producer, most Malawians follow messages through art such as music and poetry, which is why he intends to write some poems.
"My first piece was titled 'Nzotheka,' and it directly states that it is possible to achieve the Malawi2063 if we all work collaboratively and are on the same page; this poem has been receiving airplay on various radio stations throughout Malawi."
"I've also released three other pieces about the agenda, titled Changes, Lathu, and Kontalakiti," he added.
Mwanza also stated that other poems, such as 'Chadza Ndiyani,' 'Lekeni,' 'Mwanditopetsa an HR,' and 'Poti Mwatenga kale,' will play an important role in advocating for a mindset change in areas such as child marriages, misusing public offices, and gender-based violence, so that the public can embrace a new culture.
The poet, who is also a musician, stated that he has recorded a song called 'Nkhanza,' which condemns violence against women and preaches the importance of allowing women to be free in society.
He did not, however, say when his poetry album would be released, citing a lack of resources.
"I intend to release it before the end of the year so that it can circulate for people to hear my message, when everything is in place, I will notify the public, but other stakeholders are welcome to collaborate with me on the success of this album,” he continued.
Finally, he urged the public to participate in the realisation of Malawi 2063, calling it a pillar for the country's growth.
