Mwalilino's brace leads Karonga United to 3-0 win over FOMO

KARONGA, Malawi— Blessings Mwalilino scored twice as Karonga United thrashed FOMO FC 3-0 in a TNM Super League match Saturday at Karonga Stadium, writes Lusekero Mhango.
Mwalilino opened the scoring in the second minute, tapping home a cross from Allen Chihana.
Chihana doubled the lead in the 38th minute with a powerful shot into the top corner following a counter-attack.
Mwalilino sealed the victory in the 86th minute, converting a cross from Casto Kayuni.
FOMO's best chance came in the 63rd minute when Karonga goalkeeper Maclean Mwale made a diving save to deny Rashid Chiromo.
Karonga United coach Oscar Kaunda praised his team's performance. "We were fantastic from minute one, and as a coach, I could not ask for more than this wonderful display by my boys," Kaunda said.
FOMO coach Gilbert Chirwa blamed the early goal for his team's poor showing.
"The first goal was a soft goal and what we felt was an offside goal; hence, my players lost confidence in the game," Chirwa said.
