Mwale Chess Academy Student Emerges Winner in Under-15 Chess Tournament
Patil Shivasai of Mwale Chess Academy wins Meshozi Construction under-15 Chess tournament, showcasing hidden talent in Blantyre.
BLANTYRE, MALAWI — Mwale Chess Academy celebrated the victory of their student, Patil Shivasai, who emerged as the winner in the under-15 boys section of the Meshozi Construction under-15 Chess tournament, writes Happy Valirani.
The tournament, organised by Khisho Board Games and sponsored by Blantyre-based Meshozi Construction Company, took place on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences in Blantyre.
Shivasai secured first place with 5 points in the under-15 boys section, impressing Fide Master Joseph Mwale, the founder and Director of Mwale Chess Academy.
"We are very excited that one of our kids from Mwale Chess Academy, Patil Shivasai, emerged as the winner in the boys’ section," said FM Mwale in an interview.
The victory not only benefits Shivasai but also motivates his fellow players at the academy, demonstrating the success of their training efforts.
"Our mission is to teach as many children as possible through our lessons, both online and at our learning centre at Lotus International School. Shivasai's win is a clear indication that our efforts are bearing fruit," added Mwale.
The academy has also organised the Lotus International School under-16 Chess tournament, scheduled for July 22, 2023.
"We invite all children to participate in this tournament, which will have two sections: under-10 and under-16. Medals and certificates will be awarded to the winners," explained Mwale, encouraging young chess enthusiasts to join the event.
