Mwala CCAP Church to Build Housing Project Worth MK15 Million
Mwala CCAP church plans to construct houses worth MK15 million by October, funded through Christian contributions.
Lilongwe, Malawi: Mwala CCAP church plans to construct houses worth MK15 million by October, funded through Christian contributions, writes Judgement Katika.
Reverend Evance Amuna Majoni, the church leader, told Africa Brief that Nkhoma Synod Christians strive for self-reliance through the support of members, without depending on outside sources.
"We have learned lessons about relying on external funds," Reverend Majoni said, noting that member contributions benefit charitable projects that help the needy.
He urged youth to participate in "God's work" to develop knowledge and become productive citizens.
Lilongwe South parliamentary aspirant Joseph Chasweka said it is time for churches to be financially independent instead of relying on donors or the government.
"Youths are productive and innovative. It is important to involve them in God's work and the community," Chasweka said.
Businessman Lloyd Chimuna Phiri, an Assemblies of God member, said giving brings "power, breakthrough, and favour" to Jesus' partners.
He urged youth to take part in "Godly things".
The ceremony brought together community leaders and Christians from different churches.
With financial independence, Mwala CCAP Church's housing project aims to benefit the wider community through its charitable activities.
