MW Table Tennis Team Named for Africa Games
The All Africa Games will be hosted by Ghana in its capital city of Accra.
LILONGWE, Malawi — The Malawi national table tennis team will enter camp next week on Feb. 25 in Lilongwe to prepare for the All Africa Games to be held March 18-23 in Accra, Ghana, writes Alinafe Nyanda.
National team captain Stuart Hara said Friday the four-member provisional squad will consist of Floriano Massa, Stuart Hara, Abel Somba and Salam Issa.
“I can confirm that the Malawi Table Tennis Association has picked a provisional national table tennis team to go into camp ahead of the All Africa Games in Ghana next month,” Hara said.
Hara challenged the selected players to work hard and put Malawi on the world map by winning medals at international competitions.
He also urged individuals and stakeholders to invest in table tennis, calling the All Africa Games “an important tournament in our calendar that everyone takes seriously.”
Hara praised the government and the National Council of Sports for sponsoring the team to step up preparations for next month’s competition.
