Muslim Group Donates Borehole to Balaka Police Station
The borehole is scheduled to be drilled on Friday in the police residential area.
BALAKA, Malawi — A Muslim community organization has donated a borehole worth K5.5 million to the Balaka Police Station, writes Gladson M'bumpha.
During a ceremony at the station, Basmat Amal country director Ibrahim Ali said the donation resulted from the positive relationship between police and the Muslim community.
"We have been monitoring police officers patrolling around our mosques as well as other churches," Ali said.
"This donation is part of our corporate responsibility to appreciate the good job of police."
Ali praised the Balaka Police Station for safeguarding lives and property, noting officers' regular patrols around mosques and churches.
Superintendent Gideon Chisale, station officer for Balaka Police Station, commended the Muslim community for the donation, saying it will help ease water problems in the police residential area.
Chisale promised to continue providing security to all places, including churches and mosques, throughout Balaka Township.
Detective Sergeant Chrissie Chikafa, a resident of the police housing area, said the borehole will provide relief from water shortages, especially during the rainy season.
The borehole is scheduled to be drilled on Friday in the police residential area.
This donation highlights growing cooperation between law enforcement and religious communities in Malawi, aimed at improving living conditions for police officers and fostering positive community relations.
