MP Donates School Uniforms to Underprivileged Students
Head teacher Arnold Kasambara commended Phiri for the timely donation, saying many underprivileged parents have been unable to buy school uniforms, contributing to dropout rates.
SALIMA, Malawi- In an effort to promote education, member of parliament for Salima central constituency Gerald Kapiseni Phiri has donated school uniforms to 100 students at Demera Primary School in Traditional Authority Maganga, writes Alinafe Nyanda.
“Education lays the foundation for personal and social development,” Phiri said Friday during a handover ceremony at the school.
According to Phiri, there is a large segment of the population that cannot afford basic school necessities like uniforms. He said his first priority as a member of parliament is to promote education.
“It’s my unwavering commitment to ensuring quality education for all,” Phiri said.
On the same day, Phiri also officially handed over newly constructed school blocks courtesy of the Constituency Development Fund.

“School uniforms are a basic necessity that many families struggle to afford,” Kasambara said. “This donation will help keep students in school.”
Phiri noted his commitment to improving infrastructure and learning resources at schools in his constituency.
He said education lays the foundation for fighting unemployment and poverty.
“It is a human right and the best guarantee against unemployment and poverty,” Phiri said.
