Malawi: Chikwawa Police Station has praised their Mozambican counterparts from Doa Police Station for cooperating in the fight against cross-border crime.

During the month of August 2022, the two parties agreed on the importance of reducing human trafficking and providing maximum security for the benefit of communities across borders.

A few days ago, nine Malawians (aged 13 to 22) were taken to Mozambique by a Mozambican national known as Kashito and kept in his house for reasons best known to himself.

According to reports, one of the parents became interested in the case after her child went missing for several days and was later informed that her child was among those taken to Mozambique by the suspect.

The incident was reported to Chikwawa Police Station, which requested intervention from their Mozambican counterparts.

In response to the request, officers from the Doa Police Station stormed the suspect's house and rescued the victim, but the suspect fled.

Meanwhile, police in Doa are looking for Kashito and have promised that if he is found, he will be sent to Malawi to face charges of human trafficking.
