Moyale Barracks Held by Dedza Dynamos in Super League Stalemate
The hosts started slowly in the opening eight minutes but took control of proceedings in the first half, creating several scoring chances.
MZUZU, Malawi - Moyale Barracks were held to a goalless draw by visitors Dedza Dynamos in an intense Malawi Super League encounter at Mzuzu Stadium on Sunday, writes Victor Musongole.
The hosts started slowly in the opening eight minutes but took control of proceedings in the first half, creating several scoring chances.
However, Raphael Phiri, Chifundo Damba and Charles Nkhoma failed to convert for Moyale Barracks.
Dedza Dynamos adopted a cautious approach in the first half but came out blazing after the break with dangerous attacks, though they also lacked composure in the final third.
Promise Kamwendo, Marko Chiwaya and substitute Alex Benson missed clear opportunities for the visitors.
Moyale Barracks coach Pritchard Mwansa admitted his team's lack of composure in front of goal cost them maximum points at home.
"We planned but it didn't work out. We needed maximum points but we lacked composure, missed a lot of chances," Mwansa said.
"However, it's not bad considering that it's tough to get points. We will have to work on our mistakes."
Andrew Bunya, the Dedza Dynamos coach, described the game as tough while pointing out his side's missed chances and poor officiating.
"We started low in the first half, we didn't want to concede, but we need to be converting chances, we missed a lot," Bunya said.
"But we just need to sharpen up, we have a good team. I should also point out that officiating was not good today, but a point away is not bad."
The result leaves Moyale Barracks in 6th place with 7 points from 4 games, while Dedza Dynamos are 13th with 3 points from the same number of matches played.
