Moyale Barracks Edges Lube Master in FDH Bank Cup Quarterfinals

MZUZU, Malawi— Moyale Barracks FC ended Lube Master's FDH Bank Cup run with a 2-1 victory in the quarterfinals Saturday at Mzuzu Stadium, writes Lumbani Kaunda.
Emmanuel Allan opened scoring for Moyale in the 27th minute. Lube Master equalized through Rafik Kabwazi's header in the 71st, but Luke Chima secured Moyale's win with a goal in the 81st.
Lube Master coach Harold Phiri praised his team's effort despite the loss.
"We did our best. Unfortunately, our goalkeeper was not good today," Phiri said.
"We gave them a tough game, and they have won not on a silver platter."
Moyale Barracks assistant coach Victor Chingoka acknowledged the challenge.
"We lost concentration in the second half, especially in defense," Chingoka said.
"Lube Master displayed a very good standard of play, but all in all, I thank my boys for making it into the semis."
In other quarterfinal action, Karonga United defeated MAFCO 2-1 at Chitowe Stadium.
Sunday's matches will see Baka City face Blue Eagles FC at Karonga Stadium, while FCB Nyasa Big Bullets FC hosts Civo Service United at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
