Moyale Barracks Clinches Victory Over Civil United in TNM Super League
With this win, Moyale Barracks advances from the 13th to the 11th position in the league standings, amassing a total of 29 points.
RUMPHI, Malawi— Moyale Barracks secured a hard-fought victory over Civil United with a score of 1-0 in a TNM Super League game played at Rumphi Stadium on Wednesday, writes Victor Musongole.
The solitary goal came in added time of the first half when Charles Nkhoma leaped high to head home Lovemore Jere's free-kick.
Despite Civil United's determined effort in the second half, composure proved elusive as they squandered several goal-scoring opportunities.
Moyale Barracks' goalkeeper, Macdonald Harawa, was instrumental in denying Civil United, making fantastic saves and earning the title of the player of the match.
Moyale's mentor, Victor Chingoka, expressed his delight with the result while praising his players' performance. He emphasized the team's ongoing battle to avoid relegation and pledged to continue fighting for their survival.
"I'm delighted with today's performance; my players were on top of their game. We know we are not safe from relegation, so we will keep fighting," said Chingoka.
On the other side, Wilson Chidati, the coach of Civil Service, acknowledged his team's solid performance but admitted that they lost their momentum after conceding a goal.
"We had a good game, especially in the second half, but our inability to capitalize on chances is still a problem. We have most of our remaining games at home, and we are confident that we will survive," said Chidati confidently.
Reports indicate that Civil United has lodged a complaint, claiming that Moyale used Clifford Chimulambe, who had been replaced during the game.
They assert that he had accumulated three yellow cards, making him ineligible.
However, Moyale officials argue that one of the cards was received in a different competition, making Chimulambe eligible to play.
With this win, Moyale Barracks advances from the 13th to the 11th position in the league standings, amassing a total of 29 points.
Meanwhile, Civil United remains in the relegation zone, holding the 14th position with 25 points.
