Miss Malawi beauty pageant returns after four-year hiatus
The four-year suspension was attributed by the event organisers to the Covid pandemic and other factors.
Malawi: After a four-year hiatus, the Miss Malawi beauty pageant returns to Lilongwe on Saturday, December 3rd.
The four-year suspension was attributed by the event organisers to the Covid pandemic and other factors.
Twelve beauty pageants will now compete for the crown before the judges in the auditorium at Bingu International Convention Centre, with attendees watching pageants' catwalks and dressing fancies.
Miss Malawi organisers announced the presence of First Lady Madam Monica Chakwera as Guest of Honour several weeks ago.
"We are honoured to have confirmation that Her Excellency Madam Monica Chakwera, The First Lady of the Republic of Malawi, will be our Guest of Honor at the Miss Malawi Pageantry finals," said the Miss Malawi pageantry team. Madam Chakwera met with contestants at State House in November at her invitation.
She congratulated the participants and expressed her support for the management team.
Chibiso Motors is offering the winner a year of free motor vehicle service, and the official fitness trainer for the pageantry beauty Ishmail Makawa is also offering a year of free fitness routine.
Miss Malawi was founded in the 1970s but was later suspended until around 2001.
