LILONGWE, Malawi— The Media Institute of Southern Africa’s Malawi chapter has planned a fundraising dinner and dance for Dec. 2 in Lilongwe, writes Winston Mwale.
The event at the Sunbird Capital Hotel will support construction of a training center at MISA Malawi's headquarters, according to organizers.
“We hope this festive event will draw generous support from media outlets and private companies for a very worthy cause,” said Golden Matonga, MISA Malawi’s chairperson.
Major sponsors will be recognized in the new training complex, which will provide modern facilities for journalists in Malawi, Matonga said Friday.
Tickets for the dinner and dance are available until Nov. 25. Corporate sponsorships start at 500,000 kwacha ($550).
Individual tickets are 50,000 kwacha ($55).
“This is an opportunity for the media and private sector to come together and invest in the future of journalism in Malawi,” said Aubrey Chikungwa, MISA Malawi’s national director.
Further event details will be announced soon, the organization said.
