MISA Appoints ZBS' Steve Zimba to Represent Northern Region
MISA Malawi appoints Steve Zimba of ZBS to NGC executive, northern region rep, writes Winston Mwale.
Lilongwe, Malawi-The Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Malawi Chapter has appointed Steve Zimba of Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS) as an executive member of its National Governing Council (NGC) to represent the northern region, writes Winston Mwale.
MISA says Zimba has been co-opted in line with Article VI:6.3 of its constitution, which requires the NGC to appoint an additional member to ensure all three regions of the country are represented.
The article states that in the absence of an elected member from a region, the NGC should co-opt a representative.
“At any time the composition of the NGC shall have representation from the three regions of Malawi. In the event that no member from a region is elected, the AGM shall reserve a position and entrust the newly elected NGC to co-opt a member and such a member shall represent a region.’
The NGC agreed to appoint Zimba during a virtual meeting held on June 6, 2023, according to a statement signed by Golden Matonga, MISA Malawi's newly-elected NGC Chairperson.
Zimba joins Matonga, Chisomo Ngulube, and Nathan Majawa, who were recently elected to the NGC.
MISA Malawi notes that Zimba demonstrated passion and commitment to serve by contesting for an executive member position during the NGC elections held on May 4, 2023.
He came in second behind the winner, Nathan Majawa.
