Minister Mia Reaffirms Commitment to Quality Development in Malawi
Minister Mia's commitment to improving education standards is evident in her advocacy for better remuneration for teachers.
CHIKWAWA, Malawi — Minister of Water and Sanitation Abida Mia has reiterated the government's dedication to providing essential and quality development to citizens, writes Moses Thole.
During her visit to Gombwa Junior Primary School in Chikwawa on Saturday, she handed over a newly constructed school block, emphasising the importance of quality educational infrastructure in achieving Malawi 2063.
"This addition is expected to motivate both teachers and learners to attend school," said Chikwawa District Sports and Education Officer Gertrude Jumbe.
Established in 2021, the school previously had only two classrooms serving Standards 1-6 with nearly 600 learners.
The new block, valued at K46 million kwacha, comprises two classrooms and an administration office.
Group Village Heads have commended Minister Mia's efforts, demonstrating the community's appreciation for the government's investment in education.

"I will deliver the message to the Minister of Education, highlighting the significance of teacher welfare," she assured Paramount Chief Lundu.
