Mighty Waka Waka Tigers Triumph Over Chitipa United in TNM Super League Clash
Chitipa United's hopes of securing the top spot on the league table were dashed by the defeat, leaving them in third place with 36 points.
Blantyre, Malawi-In a highly anticipated TNM Super League match held on Sunday, September 3, 2023, Mighty Waka Waka Tigers emerged victorious with a 2-1 win against Chitipa United at Kamuzu Stadium, writes Happy Valirani.
The match saw Mighty Waka Waka Tigers securing three crucial points in the league standings with two goals scored by Precious Chipungu and Precious Chiudza. Chitipa United managed to get a consolation goal courtesy of Lorenzo Ghedo.
Despite the win, Mighty Waka Waka Tigers remain in the 11th place on the Super League standings with 24 points. Christopher Nyambose, the head coach for Mighty Waka Waka Tigers, expressed his delight with the victory.
Nyambose commended his players for executing the game plan effectively and stressed the importance of collecting points to improve their league position.
"I have to thank my boys for putting up a great fight; they played according to the instructions. I am very glad that we have collected the three points. As you know, we are not in a good position, so we are taking each and every game seriously to move up the standings," he stated.

Chitipa United's head coach, McDonald Mtetemera, acknowledged the tough nature of the game and highlighted defensive issues that led to conceding two goals.
"I knew that the game was going to be tough; we congratulate the Tigers for winning the game, and tough luck to us. We were not good in terms of defending, and we conceded two goals due to poor defending, but that's part of the game," Mtetemera commented.
"We are going to work on those mistakes. We will keep fighting so that we continue to perform better in our next games," he added.
In other TNM Super League matches played on the same Sunday, Karonga United and Blue Eagles played to a goalless draw at Karonga Stadium, while Moyale Barracks suffered a 1-0 defeat to Kamuzu Barracks.
