Mia Engages Local Leaders in Chikwawa Nkombezi for Development Projects

CHIKWAWA,Malawi- In a bid to involve and promote participatory development, Parliamentarian for Chikwawa Nkombezi, Abida Sidik Mia, held an interface meeting on Monday with traditional and political leaders to discuss the implementation of various projects in the constituency, writes Cornelius Lupenga.
Mia, who is also the Water and Sanitation Minister, expressed her decision to engage local leaders in order to directly address the challenges faced in the area.
She emphasised the importance of hearing from the local leaders themselves rather than relying solely on reports.
"Consultative meetings bring transparency and accountability to project implementation," Mia stated.
During the meeting, Mia announced that a borehole drilling company would soon be in the constituency to rehabilitate all non-operational boreholes.
As the Water and Sanitation Minister, Mia emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring safe and clean water is readily available in Chikwawa Nkombezi and throughout the country.
Senior Chief Ngabu expressed gratitude to Mia for organizing the interface meeting, describing it as a positive development.
He urged the traditional leaders in his area to support Mia's efforts to ensure the continuation of developmental projects.
"We have a lot of ongoing projects in areas such as water, healthcare facilities, education, and police services, just to name a few," said Senior Chief Ngabu.
The meeting concluded with a commitment from both Mia and the local leaders to work together to address the challenges and implement the necessary projects for the development of Chikwawa Nkombezi.
