Meet Five Lilongwe Siblings Living in Hell

To put it bluntly, these siblings are literally living in hell on earth. It's a foretaste of how to live in hell!!

Recently, the media in Malawi was awash with reports that over 70 percent of the country's citizens live on less than a dollar a day.

But then, unless one actually sees how people within that population are facing life, nothing seems to matter.

It's only when such human suffering is broken down in terms of one particular human being or family that the story can be directly felt by the heart and COMPREHENDED  by the mind.

Take this family of five in Chatata Village, TA Chitukula, in Lilongwe, for example, whose parents died four years ago.

The first born is a 22-year-old young man is now the the defacto head of the family, going around fetching for food everyday.

The second born is a young girl, aged 16, and, as fate would have it, is married.

While she's willing to go back to school, the gut-wrenching poverty her family is currently facing is forcing her to stay in the marriage.

The rest of the siblings are still at school, but then due to the financial woes, they can't continue: they can't afford fees, uniform and what have you.

But then wait a minute, that's not all: the siblings are living in a dilapidated "house" which they constructed after doing some piece work.

To put it bluntly, these siblings are literally living in hell on earth. It's a foretaste of how to live in hell!!

Not all hope is lost: the good news is that a group of young people is coordinating efforts to bail out these poor siblings.
