Media Council of Malawi to Launch Annual Media Symposium
The inaugural symposium will be held Nov. 26-27 at the Bingu International Conference Centre in Lilongwe.
Lilongwe, Malawi - The Media Council of Malawi plans to introduce its first annual Media Symposium to bring together stakeholders in the country's media industry, writes Winston Mwale.
"This initiative aims to create a platform for stakeholders to discuss and deliberate on developments affecting the media industry in Malawi," read a statement by the Media Council of Malawi.
The inaugural symposium will be held Nov. 26-27 at the Bingu International Conference Centre in Lilongwe.
The theme is "Reflecting Media Policy, Regulatory Models, and Practices to Reshape Spaces for Media Development, Sustainability, and Civic Engagement."
Day one will focus on "Media Policy and Legal Frameworks," delving into legal issues and self-regulation.
Day two examines "Media in the Digital Era," exploring laws around online platforms and their impact.
The symposium will include speeches, panels, exhibitions and collaboration opportunities.
"It provides an opportunity for industry players to gain insights into developments in Malawi's media sector and worldwide," the MCM statement said.
