LILONGWE, Malawi — The Media Council of Malawi (MCM) and Shareworld University signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance media training and education in the country, writes Tionge Hara.

Moses Kaufa, Executive Director of MCM, emphasized the significance of the collaboration.
"By working together, we aim to create a framework that will enable us to pool our resources, expertise, and networks to benefit aspiring journalists and media professionals in our country," Kaufa said on Tuesday.
The agreement focuses on knowledge exchange, cooperation, and joint initiatives in media training.
It's expected to provide students pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication with practical training opportunities and access to industry insights.
Dr. Theodora Mapemba Musumba, Vice Chancellor of Shareworld University, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership's potential impact on their curriculum.
"We believe that by collaborating with the Media Council of Malawi, Shareworld Open University is assured of gaining access to industry expertise and insights," Musumba said.
The collaboration underscores a shared commitment to fostering transparency, accountability, and ethical journalism in Malawi's media landscape.
