Malawi - The Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) has called on all organizations to prioritize quality and resource provision, according to the Director of Assurance Services, Mrs Gloria Chaonamwene Mereka, writes Tionge Hara.
Speaking during a certification awards ceremony held in Mzuzu on March 16th, Mereka emphasized the importance of quality assurance for the benefit of consumers.
A total of 178 companies across the country will receive certification, including 135 new entries and 14 from Mzuzu.
The bureau has committed to supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by offering free training in all districts in the country.
Mereka explained that the bureau will revoke certification from companies that fail to comply with quality standards.
She urged awardees to always consider the quality of their products, stating that quality assurance is critical to the well-being of consumers.
Kwithu Kitchen, a honey and tomato sauce production company, is among the organizations that received certification.
The company's Production Manager, Lusungu Mfinda, expressed gratitude for the recognition and promised to continue delivering the best quality products.
The Malawi Bureau of Standards aims to promote quality assurance in food processing, catering services, and the well-being of consumers.
Through certifications and training programs, the bureau seeks to ensure that organizations prioritize quality and resource provision in their operations.
