Malawi: Malinga Mafia, Malawi's top dancehall artist, has received recognition from Jamaican favourite reggae dancehall star Jahmiel.
The "A Better Tomorrow" star arrived in Malawi on Friday as part of the HangOut Music Festival 2022 edition.
In an interview with local media about possible collaborations with artists from The Warm Heart of Africa, Jahmiel stated that he is unfamiliar with Malawian artists but quickly mentioned Malinga's name.
“Is Malinga from here [Malawi]?” Jahmiel was not fully aware that the artist comes from Malawi.
A reporter from AfricaBrief attempted to contact Malinga in order to obtain his reaction to being singled out by the Jamaican star.
Malinga Mafia was unavailable for comment at the time of publication.
However, Malinga stated on one of his social media platforms, "Real Recognize Real."
The lyrics were apparently lifted from a song he recorded with fellow artists such as Martse, the late hip-hop legend.
