Malekezo Vows Growth After Being Elected Nyika Media Club Chair
Malekezo said he will ensure all members have equal opportunities.
MZUZU, Malawi - Feston Malekezo has promised substantial improvements across Nyika Media Club after being voted chairperson of the northern Malawi journalism organization Saturday, writes Victor Musongole.
"I'm greatly honored to serve the club by mentoring journalists in different aspects to inspire societies," said Malekezo.
Malekezo said he will ensure all members have equal opportunities.
Prisca Mphande from Mzimba Radio said she expects a lot from the new executive and believes all outstanding issues will be resolved.
The position of vice chairperson went to Alepha Kasongo of MBC, who was unopposed, while the general secretary position went to Elton Mhango, who beat Rose Cross Mahorya 45 to 11 votes.
Lusekero Mhango was ushered in as vice general secretary, while AfricaBrief's Tionge Hara, VOL's George Chitaya and Wyson Gondwe of Rumphi Community Radio were elected to the executive committee.
"We came in to help the club, looking at how journalists help different stakeholders in disseminating information," said Brighton Chaziya, reservation manager for Grand Palace Hotel, speaking on behalf of several partners.
