LILONGWE, Malawi— The Parliament of Malawi has entered into a strategic partnership with MWAPATA Institute, aiming to bolster the country's legislative processes and advance its development agenda, writes Bridgette Mwanoka.
The collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding signed on Tuesday at the Parliament building, is aligned with Malawi's 2063 vision and the government's ATM strategy.
William Chadza, Executive Director of MwAPATA Institute, emphasized the partnership's importance in providing "critical analytical support and enhanced information sharing" to improve parliamentary debates and oversight functions.
"This collaboration is crucial in propelling Malawi's aspirations under Malawi 2063 and the ATM strategy," Chadza said.
He added that the institute will offer technical expertise to various parliamentary committees, particularly those focused on agriculture and climate change.
Fiona Kalemba, Clerk of Parliament, expressed optimism about the partnership's potential to enhance parliamentary processes.
"Collaboration with MwAPATA Institute will ensure that policies are well-informed and aligned with Malawi's national development priorities," she stated.
The partnership aims to empower lawmakers with tools for informed decision-making and strengthen oversight mechanisms.
