Malawi's FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Draw Red Arrows in CAF Champions League
If successful against Red Arrows, Bullets could face TP Mazembe again in the second preliminary round, presenting a chance for redemption.
LILONGWE, Malawi— FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, Malawi's representatives in the 2024-2025 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League, have been drawn against Zambia's Red Arrows Football Club in the preliminary round, writes Happy Valirani.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) conducted the draw at its headquarters in Cairo, Egypt on Thursday.
The first leg is scheduled for August 16-18, with the return leg set for August 23-25, 2024.
Bullets will host the first leg in Lilongwe before traveling to Lusaka for the second match. The winner of this tie will face DR Congo's TP Mazembe in the second preliminary round.
FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Head Coach Calisto Pasuwa expressed caution about the upcoming fixture.
"Red Arrows is one of the good teams, I have seen them playing, we are not underrating any team," Pasuwa said. "We need to prepare well for us to do good."
Reflecting on past performances, Pasuwa emphasized the need for improvement.
"We have been playing the champions league, I think we have learnt a lot of lessons," he added.
"We need to solve those problems that we have been facing first... We need to work extra hard in order to advance to the next stages of the competition."
In the previous season, Bullets were eliminated in the second preliminary round after a 5-0 aggregate loss to TP Mazembe.
They had advanced by defeating Equatorial Guinea's Dragon FC 3-0 on aggregate in the first round.
