JOHANNESBURG, South Africa - Chaipa Hiwa, a revered Malawian broadcaster whose voice graced the airwaves of Malawi Broadcasting Station (MBC) in the 1980s, died at 62. Hiwa passed away on 8 March, 2024 at Steve Biko Hospital in South Africa, where he had been receiving treatment since December, writes Moses Thole.
Hiwa was known for his charismatic on-air presence. He began his career at MBC, captivating audiences with shows like the "Grain and Milling Half Hour Show" and the "Saturday Night Dancing Party."
